Origins of Jam Peanut

Early beginnings

Jam was created October 30th 2020, and was an oc I was going to use as a mascot for my animation meme channel. At the time, I was being cyberstalked by a group of malicious trolls, all because I was making gacha content on my main channel. They would attack my discord server by sending hateful messages in mass, spamming the server with fake accounts that also had malicious usernames attached to them, directed all at me, a 12 year old child. The stress eventually got to me and I stopped making Gacha content, at first I thought I was going to pivot to animation memes, but then I discovered vtubers, and changed Jam into a human.

Instead of starting out on Twitter, like every other Vtuber and making a twitch account, I actually started out on Instagram, and then branched out to TikTok and YouTube. I did use Twitch, but I didn’t use it as often as I wanted to, because I was scared of the platform.

was able to connect with my idol, a retired vtuber by the name of Mao Nakamura, she inspired me to start posting content because she was a black Vtuber using custom cast, an app I also used to create jam’s first designs.

She invited me to a group of other vtubers she had met, and I got acquainted with the rest of them, though some of them were significantly older than me, and didn’t treat me the way they should’ve, considering that I was a very young child, luckily, there were adults who I would end up meeting in the future, who made sure to protect me and treated me well. I do not condone anyone under the age of at least 16 to becoming a Vtuber, and even then, you should tell your parents like I did, so they can monitor what you do online, and help you in any dangerous situations, if I never told my parents about what I was doing on the Internet, I would probably be into a lot of messed up stuff, and in a weird place mentally due to the corruption of those abusive adults.

Online Presence Growth (2020-2026)

After gaining a few followers on Instagram, I moved to TikTok and started posting there, where I would end up posting for the next few years up until 2025, when I started slowing down significantly, only posting every blue moon. I would post about Jam’s (very disconnected) backstory, my other ocs apart of what was the first iterations of the Jamverse, art and animations, but most importantly,my progress as a Vtuber. Looking back at it makes me smile because my beginnings were so humble. I used to stream from my bed on a shitty laptop that was not optimized for playing video games or even streaming, but I still tried anyways.

I would not experience any extreme success until 2023 where I had a video skyrocket to over 1 million views, however, not for something that I am proud of. The only reason that video went so viral was because I was being attacked (once again) by the proshipper and lolicon communities. If you don’t know what they are, you are extremely blessed, because they’re incredibly depraved communities online.

I do not associate myself with them in the slightest, and people were outraged by the comment that I had received, it was someone asking me to turn jam into a “loli” character, which is a child version of an anime character that is usually, hypersexualized by fans, so people would go on to support me and also talk about how shocked they were in the comment section, but another very popular comment I was getting, was how people really liked the background footage I used for that video, which was a customcast Jam dancing, and I would end up gaining a ton of supporters, longtime fans, and even longtime friends that I am very appreciated of until this day.

Unfortunately, I would discover why it’s very important for content creators to set boundaries with their fans, and if it’s possible, not interact with them too much, because have to deal with several parasocial fans who thought the relationship they had with me was more than just a streamer to fan basis, some even guilted me into being friends with me, only to hate me later. I was only 15 at the time. I didn’t know what I was doing. there were other factors that also made this rise in popularity worse.

Throughout 2021-2025, I would stream and make videos rarely, because I was still going through middle school and highschool. The end of Middle school was a lot more traumatic than highschool ended up being, but it led me to being very emotionally unstable in highschool, I care a lot about what I do online. I think about the ideas I have, and videos I wanted to make, but I just couldn’t do it because of my poor mental state. A lot of my ideas still stay trapped in my head because I would not have the motivation to make them into real things, its something I still regret to this day, and I’m trying to change that mindset, because life is too short to let your ideas die with you.

My next few breakthroughs would be with YouTube. After I started getting bored with making TikTok videos and streaming, I wanted to start making YouTube videos with commentary content, about the things I enjoyed, and hopefully in the future, my own stories and animations, but I had to start small, my first few videos were on fandom related trends that I liked and pointless dramas I would entertain until I quit making drama content entirely, and focused only on fandom content. This proved to be a massive success, and my channel would slowly start rising to 10k, 20k, 30k, and now 40K subscribers. I have yet to have a video reach 1 million views, but I have gotten videos over the 100K view mark, and my most popular video right now being a storytime that I made, which helped me realize that I can absolutely make original content on my channel. I don’t always have to make videos that are fandom related, but I won’t stop making them all together.

Why is Jam the way he is today

To be honest, I don’t know what drove me into making Jam a decora character in 2023, but I’m so glad I did, because the ideas are endless and I’m not bored 3 years later. You can make anything into Decora, it’s a very versatile style, even though people think that you can only be it if you are into very vibrant colors and tons of rainbows. You can be goth + decora, scene + decora, ANYTHING + >DECORA!! I just love it so much. I don’t dress into style that often but when I’m able to, it makes me feel very cute.

One misconception I get a lot is that people think that jam is my persona, but he’s not, Jam was never meant to represent me. He was always just a character, but back then I wasn't using him to be an extension of creativity, but what I thought people wanted to see out of me in a Vtuber, even today, black Vtubers are not popular, and there’s very few of us that are considerably successful in our own niches. It has always been pale, conventionally attractive, anime characters, that run the community, so I assumed that the only reason people would like me, was if I made a character that was all of that, it would also allow me to be completely separated from him identity-wise.

Jam was also a female up until 2023 when I finally decided to share my preferred pronouns on the Internet, nowadays, I don’t care what people refer t me as, but when it comes to jam, I’m still strict about him being called a boy because that’s what I intended him to be going forward, I don’t see jam as trans, however, I do not mind the headcannon or any headcannon about what his gender could be.

Miscellaneous facts

Jam’s partner is Sala Salamander’s, my girlfriend’s oc! They are deeply in love, just like we are in real life.

Macaque from Lego Monkie kid, however, not canonical Macaque, my own interpretation of him I’ve made for an AU (that I might go into more detail about later.) jam is also aged up in this AU, to be 28 years old, canonically he’s 18-19. Jam and Mac would never work out if we’re talking about their canonical personalities, because both of them are vastly different, and jam just doesn’t like extremely angsty or depressing people, their relationship would be more akind to how Macaque is with the only female character in the main cast, Mei, how they started out hating each other, but now they have more of a Frenemies’s relationship that still has many uncomfortable feelings to work out.

Michael is Jam’s “host”, Jam gets to use his body so he can physically exist in a real world, as he is not a real person in his universe, he is a fictional character made by Michael. However, their relationship is more like brothers, Jam being the very bratty younger brother thats too hot headed, and Michael being the mellow older brother that needs a long nap.
